About MSRIT

Our Story

S. Ramaiah College of Engineering, Bengaluru, was established in 1962 by Sri M. S. Ramaiah, a master visionary, educationist, and trendsetter. He pioneered private-sector engineering education in India, ensuring the inclusion of all major engineering branches — Civil, Mechanical, Electronics, Industrial, Computer, Chemical, and Electrical — under one institution. In 1980, the college was renamed M. S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT), a name that has since become synonymous with academic excellence. Over the decades, MSRIT has earned nationwide recognition as a premier engineering institution, creating a landmark in technical education by providing access and opportunity to aspiring engineers across India and abroad, especially to students who previously lacked such opportunities.

Although the institution had a strong national presence, a significant number of students hailed from Andhra Pradesh, particularly before private engineering colleges emerged in the state in 1985. The strong bond among alumni, especially the 1979 batch, led to frequent informal gatherings. During one such meeting in 2004, the idea of forming an alumni association was conceived and received immediate support. This resulted in the first formal alumni meet in March 2005 at a private farmhouse near Gandipet, attended by over 100 alumni. The event was sponsored by Er. Ramesh Parwathaneni (1979 Civil Engineering batch) and its grand success inspired the continuation of annual alumni meets.

Following this strong foundation, the tradition of annual alumni meets on the second Saturday of February every year was firmly established, with alumni members proudly sponsoring and actively participating in these gatherings, strengthening bonds, fostering lifelong connections, and nurturing the enduring spirit of the MSRIT alumni community.
